Vehicles with Unique Design Language (PART 2)

Two weekends ago, we discussed about some vehicles with unique design language that easily set them apart from other vehicles. For his weekend, we are going to continue from where we stopped and without further ado, let's dive right in.

1. The G-Wagon Boxy Design

I first laid my two “koro koro” eyes on a G-Wagon in JSS 2. On that very day, it was vacation and Senior Osazuwa of blessed memory, along with his older brother were picked in a G-Wagon. Nowadays the G-Wagon is a common vehicle to spot, but back then it was quite rare. I remember seeing a boxy vehicle approach from afar and I immediately knew that it was a G-wagon. Coupled with that side exhaust that is almost deafening, what a sight it was to behold.

Over the years, the G-Wagon has had some copy cats, like the one seen above which is a Chinese copy cat. Our very own Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM) has a G-Wagon look alike. Nonetheless, the G-Wagon easily stands out from every other vehicle on the road.

2. Mustang Rear Lights

Top - 1964 Mustang; Middle - 1967 Mustang; Bottom - 2024 Mustang

Since the inception of the Ford Mustang in 1964, it has had a very unique and sexy rear light design. If you ever find yourself behind a sport car in traffic and this certain vehicle has three erectly placed rectangular lights, you are most definitely behind a Mustang.

The mustang rear lights have had minor design change over the years, ranging from the shape to the colour, as seen in the image above, but regardless of these minor changes in detail, Mustang has managed to retain the triple rectangular rear light design.

 3. Ford F-Series Truck Headlights

One of my classmate’s Dad had a Ford F150 truck back in secondary school. His Dad wasn’t a really tall man, so he had to literally jump in and out of his car 😅. I made that reference to let you know how massive the Ford F-series trucks are in reality. One unique thing about the F-series trucks are their headlights, which kind of look like the letter “J”.

The letter “J” explanation does not really do justice, but it has this specific look regardless. Maybe if you wash your eyes in the River of Bethsaida you will then be able to see what car guru’s like me see 🌝

4. The Bugatti Grille and Side-Wall Structure

Left: Bugatti Veyron; Right: Bugatti Chiron

The Bugatti brand is one that is associated with hyper-performance. Back when all I knew was “top ten fastest cars in the World” 😅, the Bugatti Veyron had already won my heart. The Bugatti grille has been a unique identifying piece on almost all Bugatti vehicles. Most people think this grille design is only synonymous with their newer models, but that would be wrong. The Oval Bugatti Grille design dates back to older models as seen below.

Vintage Bugatti Grilles

I think Bugatti has a thing for oval shapes, because asides the Bugatti grilles, the side wall design of more recent Bugatti vehicles have an oval outline that is also quite unique and distinct. This oval shape actually helps with aerodynamics, which explains the Bugatti obsession with the shape.

5. The Red Colour of Ferrari

If Ferrari had their way, they would have trademarked the red colour by now. In the past, about 90% of Ferrari’s produced came straight from the factory in red. Only special and limited vehicles came in other colors like white and yellow. Even in present day, about 50% of Ferrari’s are still produced in red colour. In Italy, the colour red for a car is synonymous for Ferrari. To show you how addicted Ferrari is to the red colour, they even have different shades of red as seen below.

I think this will be all for this topic, as I will like to draw the curtain. Nonetheless, I know that I have definitely missed out on some other examples. So do me a favor and drop them in the comments section, let’s nerd out. I hope you all have a wonderful day and weekend. Thank you for reading and always remember to turbo that engine!
