THE BIG MOVE

Sir Lewis Hamilton's move from the Mercedes Formula One (F1) team to Ferrari is no longer news. Almost every automobile channel has given their two cents on the big move. For those who have no idea what I am talking about, here is a brief summary. Sir Lewis Hamilton is in my books the Greatest Formula One driver ever as he has 7 Formula 1 World Championships, but some school of thoughts do not agree with my GOAT, as he shares this title with Michael Schumacher, who also has 7 World Champions to his name.

THE BIG MOVE

Hamilton was supposed to win his 8th World Championship in the 2020/2021 Season, which would have solidified his mark as the GOAT of F1, but he lost the title to Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing in a technicality that most found very controversial. Since loosing the opportunity to win his 8th World Championship, Hamilton has seriously been struggling at Mercedes. There were a lot of rule changes to the specifications of the Formula One cars in favor of Red Bull racing and Ferrari, as both team drivers have been killing it on the racetrack.

On the other hand, Mercedes has been having a lot of mechanical issues. As a result of these issues within Mercedes, Hamilton has literally been fighting for his life. He has not had a shot at the championship ever since. I guess he was getting just as frustrated as his fans and boom, the headline came, "Lewis Hamilton is joining Ferrari in 2025". I wouldn't say it came as a shock, but it was something that suddenly emerged from our blind spot. Hamilton has been with Mercedes since 2013 and has won 6 of his 7 championships with them, but the team does not seem like it can deliver him an 8th World Championship, hence his decision to switch teams.

Hamilton's humble beginnings in Mclaren

Hamilton moving to Ferrari feels like a "deja vu" moment and you would be right to think so. Hamilton started off his career in the Mclaren F1 team and he won his first ever championship in that team in 2008. It was at this time that Hamilton decided to make a move to Mercedes and a lot of people felt he was making a wrong move, because Mercedes was not winning as much then. History shows us that Hamilton did make the right choice, as he has won 6 more titles with Mercedes. We can only wait for history to unfold once again, to see if Hamilton's move to Ferrari is the right choice.

WHY FERRARI?

Scuderia Ferrari Team

Ferrari has always been a force to recon with, when it comes to motorsports and Formula one is no exception. The 2000's did not see much of Ferrari's dominance, as Ferrari's last victory was in 2007 with Kimi Räikkönen behind the wheel, but the 1900's were Ferrari dominated especially with experienced and daring drivers like Niki Lauda racing for Ferrari. It is note worthy that Ferrari holds the record for the most Grand Prix victories, having won 245 times. In recent times, Ferrari has neither been too good, nor too bad. I will say they have been decent, finishing second in the World Constructors' Championship for the 2022 season with Charles Leclerc as driver.

Charles Leclerc - Current Ferrari Driver

The 2023/2024 season has also seen great highlights from Charles Leclerc inside the Ferrari cockpit. One can only wonder the damage Lewis Hamilton will do inside the same Ferrari cockpit, but this time with his years experience and unmatched skills. I personally feel the days of Mercedes domination are temporarily over, they will definitely come back, but not anytime soon. It is Ferrari's time to shine again and I know for a fact that Lewis Hamilton will take them out of their championship drought. So, in my opinion, Sir Lewis Hamilton has made the right choice moving to Ferrari. I can certainly feel the 8th World Championship coming and then no one can dispute my GOAT. Anticipate!!!

Return of the Ferrari throne?

This was quite a nerdy episode, but I really enjoyed talking about my G.O.A.T. I hope you enjoyed reading as well and for my non-car people, I promise to make the next blogpost less nerdy. Thank you for reading and always remember to Turbo that engine!

Does Formula 1 race depends on the driver or the Vehicle. Or which more?
Really, it depends on both. A good vehicle with a terrible driver is disaster, just as a good driver with a terrible vehicle is negative work. But if a good vehicle is combined with a good and experienced Driver, an 8th World championship is inevitable
