Why are these three cars most popular among Nigerian bachelors?

With no further ado, I introduce to you the three vehicles that are most popular among bachelors in Nigeria and they are the 2006-2012 Toyota Camry, 2006-2012 Lexus IS and 2006-2014 Mercedes Benz C-Class.

The three cars pictured above need no further introduction, as almost every reader has seen these cars with their very own eyes, at least once before. So, to the question before us, why are these cars usually the first choice for a Bachelor?

1. AFFORDABILITY AND FAIRLY CHEAP MAINTENANCE

If you have paid attention so far, you would have realized that these three vehicles are not so new. All three vehicles began production in 2006 and also ended production around the same time in 2012/2014. This means that these cars are about 11-17 years old, which makes them not so expensive to obtain. All three cars are also in the same price range, as they can be purchased with about 3-5 million naira. With such a price tag, it is a no brainer that bachelors who are just starting out in life, opt for these vehicles. More so, maintenance is not as expensive for these vehicles as they are in abundance, making spare parts very much available in the market and fairly cheap. Monthly servicing of these vehicles compared to modern day counterparts is also inexpensive.

2. MO POWA BABY!

"Mo powa baby" is the brainchild of the James Pumphrey of Donut Media, which simply means "more power baby". As a bachelor, one is less concerned about fuel economy and more worried about how much horsepower his car can make, so that he can beat his friend in a drag race, just incase the opportunity presents itself. In line with this, all three of these cars are fast cars in their own right, as they all come with V6 engines that make between 250-300 horsepower. Each of these engines come with different peculiarities in their configuration, but a V6 will always give mo powa baby! I remember the first time I drove a 2010 Camry (a.k.a Camry Muscle), I was so shocked at how quick the car was, despite it's big size, all thanks to its V6 engine.

3. EASY TUNING (UPGRADING)

Due to these vehicles being very common, there are numerous tuning options available to make one’s already cool ride even cooler. Unfortunately, engine tunes are not as common in Nigeria, therefore only exterior or body work tunes are performed. With so much aftermarket support for these older generation cars, tunning is not only affordable but also quite easy. This is exactly why most of these bachelors buy a 2007/2008 model for cheap and then upgrade it to a 2011/2012 model year without anyone suspecting a thing.

4. Last, but not least, these three cars tend to attract the Ladies, so why not?

With these few points of mine, I hope that I have been able to convince and not confuse you, on why these three vehicles are most popular among Nigerian bachelors. Anyhoo, how are my TurboNerdz doing? Feel free to respond in the comments section. I want to apologize for not posting last week, please forgive me. With a heavy heart, I also announce that this will be the last post for a while, at least until after my exams. Until then, thank you for reading and always remember to Turbo that engine!
