TRIBUTE TO MY TURBONERDZ'

Image
First off, Merry Christmas Turbonerdz'! 🎉🎊🎉 I am very sure everyone has been having a great time because it be like say Sapa dey on vacation, lol. This episode is actually meant to be a tribute but I would love to briefly talk about road safety before any vote of thanks. I understand these are jolly times and everyone is on the road, either within town or interstate, but we are all going to be in vehicles or on motorcycles. Hence, it is important to give some safety tips; 1. The Use of Seatbelts The use of seatbelts can not be over emphasized. On my way home for the Christmas break, I sat in the "shotgun" position of the transport vehicle and midway into the journey, my seatbelt came off on it's own. I checked and realized the seat belt holder was not good, so it kept on popping out. I could have just relaxed and let it be, but I kept fixing it in because I know how important the seatbelt can be in case of an accident. You all know how strong the windshield of a ca

FOR THE MOTORCYCLE LOVERS

Since the inception of this blog, I have only written about cars and I guess this has given the wrong notion that I do not like motorcycles. This would be a very wrong assumption because I love anything with an engine or some kind of motor on wheels. I actually planned on learning how to ride a motorcycle during this Christmas break, but based on one or two, I had to postpone my lessons. Nigerian Bikers I am sure almost everyone reading this blog has had Power Bikes overtake them, especially on the high way. You can not tell me you didn't enjoy the experience, hearing the sound of the engines from behind, then they suddenly ride pass at amazing speeds and disappear into thin air. I attended a wedding around this time last year and the groom happened to be a biker. All his friends came in their biker attires with their power bikes and escorted the couple from the church to the reception hall, that was one of the most beautiful things I had ever seen at a wedding. I hope to recreate

Accepting the Inevitable Future of the Automotive World

Image
On most days I feel like a dinosaur, because in an automotive world becoming increasingly populated by self driving electric vehicles, I see no place in it. It feels like an asteroid hit the earth, bringing combustion engines, turbo chargers, superchargers and manual transmissions to near extinction. You go on the internet and all you see are so called acclaimed innovations in the automotive world. These innovations merely entail vehicles that do not need a driver, some of these vehicles do not even have steering wheels. To non gear heads, this would be a big relief as they can move from point A to B without lifting a finger, but to a proper gear head, this is a nightmare because these innovations only detach us from our babies (vehicles). The future of the automotive world is electric, which means I must come to terms with this fact or remain a Dinosaur in todays Information Age. Hence, the discussion of today will dwell on 3 fully electric vehicles that have managed to put a smile on

UNDERSTANDING VEHICLE SAFETY

Image
Recently, there was uproar on social media about a certain Suzuki S-Presso with zero safety rating flooding the streets of Nigeria and commonly being used by Uber and Bolt drivers. I was particularly impressed about the level of concern and awareness people showed. However, it would be interesting to note that vehicle safety standards involve some more details than we might be aware of. Let’s take a look at how it’s done. Suzuki S-Presso Different Countries have regulatory bodies that oversee vehicle safety and roadworthiness like the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in the USA. These regulatory bodies are laden with the duty of educating road users and preventing and minimizing accidents on the highway as well as faulty vehicle recalls, constant assessment of vehicle parts and accessories and enforcement of safe driving measures. The equivalent here in Nigeria is the FRSC and the VIO except they have a lesser scope of work giving the primitive level of our automo
