Automobile Souls'

Today being All Souls' Day, I decided this episode was going to feature 3 automobile gear heads who have gone before us. I consider these individuals as role models in this car thing and their names are forever written in the sands of time of the automotive world.

Paul Walker

Paul Walker, famous for his superb acting in the Fast and Furious franchise as Brian O'Conner, passed on November 30, 2013 in a car crash at a charity car show he organized. Paul Walker was not someone who just pretended to love cars in the fast and furious movies, as he was an absolute car freak off set. “If one day speed kills me, don’t cry because I was smiling”. This quote from the star himself still keeps him alive and makes us cherish each and every memory he has left for us. To commemorate his well lived life, I will be giving a list of the amazing cars he owned before his untimely death. They include the 1989 Skyline GT-R, 7 different BMW M3's, 1995 Ford Bronco, 1963 Chevrolet Nova Wagon, 2000 Audi S4, 1967 Chevrolet Nova Wagon, 2013 Ford Mustang Boss, 2006 Toyota Tundra, 2009 Nissan 370Z, Porsche Carrera GT and a couple Motorcycles. From this car list, you realize how vast his car collection was and how much of a turbo nerd he truly was.

Ken Miles

Ken Miles, the man behind the real life "Ford VS Ferrari", passed on August 17, 1966 while testing a Ford GT prototype. For everyone who enjoyed the Ford VS Ferrari movie, Ken Miles along side Carroll Shelby are the men to thank for such an amazing movie, as they literally drove the movie plot to reality. A well-known quote from Miles illustrates the passion for engineering and driving that he had. “I am a mechanic. That has been the direction of my entire vocational life. Driving is a hobby, a relaxation for me, like golfing is to others.” So to all of you shouting, "I don't want to be a mechanic, I want to be baller"; I am no member of that club, as I wouldn't mind taking up a wrench to work on cars. I can't go deep into Ken Miles racing achievements but one thing you should know is that Enzo Ferrari, as proud as he was, gave Ken a tip of the hat for being the dogged driver he was.

Sabine Schmitz

Sabine Schmitz, famous for making grown men puke and piss their pants, after a ride with her in the drivers seat, passed on March 16, 2021 after battles with cancer. Sabine Schmitz, the only female winner of the 24 Hours of Nürburgring and widely known as the “Queen of the Nürburgring”, was also a host on the Top Gear BBC show. She first joined Jeremy Clarkson on the BBC show Top Gear in 2004 and became part of the presenting team when Chris Evans revamped the program in 2016. Sabine Schmitz paved the way for every female racing driver dominating the circuit today and she did it looking good. Hence, to every female gear head and racer out there, believe in yourself because if Sabine could do it, you can too.

This episode is dedicated to two of my N17 Brothers who have gone before us, Aladenoye Adeniyi Benedict and Cole Precious. Note that it is important to show love to people and give them their flowers while they are still alive. May the souls of all the departed, rest in perfect peace. Thank you for reading and always remember to Turbo that Engine.

Left - Cole Precious; Right - Aladenoye Benedict
