JDM VS MUSCLE

About two weeks ago, I posted about my favorite car, the Nissan GT-R and I asked people about their favorite cars as well. From the replies I got, I realized that most of the favorite car picks fell mainly into two categories, the JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) cars and the Muscle cars. If you are familiar with the Fast and Furious franchise, you would have realized that it was also loosely based on this same competition between these two car following's, at least before The Rock and Jason Statham turned our favorite car series into a guns and fist fight series. Dominic Toretto known as Dom obviously represented the Muscle car community as he was seen riding a Dodge Charger while Paul Walker known as Brian O'Conner represented the JDM Community in his Toyota Supra and later a Nissan R34 GT-R.

Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) refers to Japans home market for vehicles and vehicle parts. There is a common misconception that any Japanese branded car is JDM; however, this is not true. Only a vehicle made to be sold in japan is considered JDM. This means that vehicles made by Japanese vehicle manufacturers specifically for the European or American market is not considered JDM as they have been adulterated to fit the specifications of the consumers. So, your fathers American Spec Toyota Corolla is not JDM, thank you.

In the Fast and Furious franchise, the JDM community was so much appreciated that the franchise had to do a whole movie just on JDM in the form of the Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift. Some legendary JDM vehicles include the Nissan GT-R, Nissan Silvia, Nissan Z, Toyota Supra, Toyota AE-86, Honda Civic, Mitsubishi  Evo, Acura NSX and the list goes on. The beauty of JDM cars is how much power can be added to them with after market parts like turbos and superchargers. This is why we have 1,000+ horse power Toyota's and Nissan's filling up car meets. Personally, I am a JDM fan boy and will always rep' the community.

JDM Vehicles (the cool geng)

Muscle cars on the other hand, is a description for a group of American-made two-door sports coupes with powerful engines. The sauce for creating a muscle car simply involves a large V8 engine, wide tires, flared fenders and large hood scoops. To me, a muscle car is like that friend that goes to the gym everyday but still gets an ass whooping by the quiet kid in the corner (the JDM vehicle). Enough hating before the Muscle car fan boys come for me.

In the Fast and Furious franchise, the Muscle cars were appreciated but not as much as the JDM cars especially in the United States, probably because of "see finish". By this, I mean the Americans grew up around these muscle cars, so seeing them on TV did not hit the spot like the JDM counterparts. Some popular Muscle cars include the Dodge Charger, Dodge Demon, Chevrolet Camaro, Shelby Cobra and Ford Mustang, among others. Muscle cars also have a very large following and this is more evident in the drag race scene, as most muscle cars have outrageous 0-60 times and dominate drag races.

The Muscle Brothers

This episode is meant to serve the purpose of an introduction as we will delve deep into the JDM and Muscle car culture in subsequent episodes. Let me know in the comments section, if you belong to the JDM or Muscle car fan club? Also, it pains me to announce that I will be officially taking a break from posting for a while, as my Professional Exams will soon commence. I will surely miss you Turbonerdz and I promise to be back as soon as possible with even more interesting content. Until then, thank you for reading and always remember to turbo that engine!!!

One JDM I love apart from the ones you mentioned is the Subaru Impreza WRX STI W20 series. It's a vehicle tuners would die to have. The ultimate climax of those subaru rally cars.
Agh! At all my guy πŸ˜πŸ˜‚πŸ€£ It's just a nickname given to that particular Camry year model because of its build. It has a kind of wide body that makes it look like it possesses muscles, that's all. It is not an inch close to being classified a real muscle car.
OMG! I didn't add the Subaru πŸ™†πŸΎ‍♂️ The literal king of Rally Racing. If I were to pick an off-road vehicle ever, it would be the Subaru. Thank you for reminding of me of the Subaru icon. πŸ™‡πŸΎ‍♂️
Subaru users don't even go around looking for Toyota 2JZ's, I know their own engine is already lit AF! Slap on a big turbo with anti-lag and the moon is your destination! πŸ₯΅ The first comment weak you too my Boss? 🀣
