The Apocalypse of the Combustion Engine!
The future of the combustion engine as we know it, is close to extinction and it is all thanks to the so-called future of the automotive world, electric vehicles! For one, I am not ready for that future. If by any means I could go back in time, I would probably stop the birthing of Elon Musk, because he is the cause of all this shenanigan (inserts crying emoji). I know this sounds harsh but it hurts me to think that my grandson may never have the opportunity to hear the sound of a real combustion engine. How his ear ossicles may never get to experience the reverberation coming from a V8 engine cruising down the street. Unlike popular belief, Tesla was not founded by Elon Musk. Tesla was incorporated in July 2003 by Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning as Tesla Motors. In February 2004, via a $6.5 million investment, Elon Musk became the largest shareholder of the company. He has served as CEO since 2008. Elon Musk merely bought the idea of two engineers and in all honesty, made it better.
The Villain of the Automotive World |
Anyway, I am not here to praise Tesla or Elon Musk because they are the cause of my headache. Today, the Tesla Model S Plaid is one of the fastest accelerating cars in the World, with a 0-60 of just under 2 seconds. But what is the use of all that acceleration if my ears are not getting almost deafened by the sound of 8, 10 or 12 pistons banging against the cylinder head of my engine. Call me old fashioned but the sound of combustion engines is therapeutic and it is saddening to think they will soon be classified extinct! A lot of car companies have tried to fight the movement but there is only so much they can do. This is why there is now at least one electric vehicle in every car company line up. For your information, one of your favorite SUV's, the Mercedes G Wagon will soon go electric and will be known as the EQG. If the G Wagon can go electric, trust me when I say no combustion engine is safe out there.
Eww! |
"Every new passenger car sold in the world will be electric by 2040", says Exxon Mobil CEO Darren Woods, this has to be one of the most heart breaking news I have heard. It sent literal shivers down my spine. This among many others are the headlines taking over the automotive world. Countries are giving their car companies ultimatums, percentages of how many cars must be electric, it is honestly depressing. On the other hand, the government is giving outrageous car emission and engine sound limits. The National Environment Agency plans to make motor vehicle noises fall within a band of 68 decibels. Mind you, house-hold blenders make about 88 decibels and yet they want new cars to make even less? Only Electric vehicles can keep up to such a noise limit, so this is clearly just another effort made to curb combustion engines. At this point, it is quite obvious that the automotive world is actively preparing for a future that I am not ready for.
Endangered Species! |
One write-up is clearly not enough to talk about all that is going down in the automotive world, pertaining the unlawful poaching of combustion engines but I have to draw the curtain. I will definitely pick up from here some other time.
Thank you for reading and always remember to turbo that engine.

This was interesting to read, we’d keep learning from you
So electric cars are charged or what?
Also (*wink) I think it would all be important if we all heard some (*Vroom!! Vroom!!!) from time to time xD
Just think of how the new Fast & Furious movies would be xD
A Confirmed Turbonerd 🤝 Thank You for reading.
I knew Electric cars were coming but I didn't see
the fate of combustion engines from this perspective, it made me feel bad for them and wish I could plead their case before before a jury or some sort of automobile court.
This piece is beautifully written. Well done @Turbo nerdz
